Introduction
Established in 1989, Jamia Hamdard is one of India’s leading universities, home to over 10,000 students across 6 academic schools. With a legacy rooted in excellence, the university sought to strengthen its bond with alumni across all its departments and create a unified, digital alumni ecosystem.
However, despite a strong institutional brand, engaging such a large alumni base presented major operational hurdles.
Key Challenges
The university was facing two major obstacles:
1. Difficulty Tracking a Dispersed Alumni Base
With thousands of graduates spread across diverse departments and decades, there was no centralized record to track or engage them effectively.
2. No System to Plan or Promote Alumni Activities
There was no platform in place to organize alumni events, track participation, or communicate with alumni at scale.
The AlmaShines Solution
In June 2017, Jamia Hamdard partnered with AlmaShines to build a campus-wide digital alumni platform. The platform went live in July 2017, providing a centralized system for alumni engagement across all schools and departments.
Within just 30 days of launch, over 3,000 alumni had actively registered and engaged on the platform — a strong signal of the alumni community’s interest and loyalty.
Key Milestone: The First-Ever Alumni Meet
Encouraged by the platform’s early success, Jamia Hamdard Alumni Association organized its first-ever official alumni meet in September 2017. The event was a resounding success, bringing together 300+ alumni, many of whom were reconnecting with their alma mater after years.
This event marked the beginning of a vibrant, connected alumni culture — supported entirely by AlmaShines’ digital infrastructure.
