About Parul University
Parul University has spent three decades building one of Gujarat’s most recognized academic institutions. Recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Government of Gujarat and holding NAAC A++ accreditation, the university has ranked among the Top 50 innovative institutions in India on the NIRF rankings for four consecutive years.
With over 77,000 students and 5,500+ international students from more than 75 countries, the campus reflects a genuinely global academic environment. Over the years, that scale produced something else too: a large and rapidly expanding alumni community, now spread across cities in India and professional circles worldwide.
A big alumni base and an active alumni network, however, are two very different things. Parul had built the former. The work was in building the latter.
The Challenge
A Large Network with No Shared Structure
As Parul’s alumni base grew across cities and countries, managing it through manual processes and scattered records became unworkable. There was no centralized place to track alumni, no local communities for graduates to belong to, and no reliable way to reach them consistently.
The gap was not just operational it was structural. Alumni across Indian cities had no formal chapters to connect through. Graduates living abroad had no organized community to call their own. Without that local infrastructure, even well-intentioned outreach efforts felt like broadcasting into a void.
Where the Gaps Showed Up
No Single Alumni Database
Alumni records were spread across systems with no central source of truth, making outreach slow, inconsistent, and difficult to scale.
No Local Alumni Communities
Graduates in the same region had no formal chapter to connect through. Without local structure, alumni had no reason to stay engaged beyond campus memories.
Inconsistent Communication
Event announcements and engagement campaigns depended on manual coordination, meaning the right messages rarely reached the right people reliably.
No Formal Alumni Identity
Graduates had no formal credential marking their connection to Parul University. Without a visible identity, the institutional bond naturally faded over time.
The AlmaShines Solution
Platform used: AlmaShines Alumni Management Platform, with alumni chapter management and Digital Alumni ID Card at its core.
Parul University partnered with AlmaShines to build a comprehensive digital alumni ecosystem through the Parul University Alumni Portal one that could handle both the operational side of managing a large database and the community-building work that drives long-term engagement.
The first step was getting the fundamentals right. Alumni records were brought into a single, centralized platform. Profiles were digitized and organized, giving the alumni team a reliable foundation to work from. Over 90% of the alumni base is now active on the alumni portal a strong indicator of how quickly graduates took to having a dedicated space of their own.
With the data infrastructure in place, the university moved on to what mattered most: building chapters. AlmaShines enabled Parul to create structured alumni communities across more than 30 locations spanning India and several countries, giving graduates a regional home within a much larger network.
National Chapters
Across major cities and towns in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttarakhand and more with new chapters continuing to form as the alumni community grows.
International Chapters
Across the US, Africa, Europe and other regions bringing Parul alumni together regardless of where their careers have taken them.
Each chapter acts as a regional node a space where alumni can meet fellow graduates nearby, participate in local events, and maintain an ongoing relationship with the university without relying solely on digital communication.
The platform also introduced official digital alumni identity cards. It sounds like a small detail, but the numbers tell a different story. Over 40,000 cards were issued a clear signal of how many graduates wanted that formal connection recognized.
Impact and Results
Alumni profiles organized and maintained on one centralized platform
Digital alumni ID cards issued to graduates across regions
Alumni attendees across engagement events hosted through the platform
Active national and international alumni chapters established
What This Made Possible
A Network That Works at a Regional Level
With chapters across India and abroad, alumni now have a formal space to meet, collaborate, and stay connected not just to the university, but to each other.
Global Reach with Local Relevance
International chapters across the US, Africa, Europe and beyond mean geography is no longer a barrier. Parul alumni abroad have a community to belong to on their own terms.
A Formal Alumni Identity
The digital alumni ID card gave graduates a tangible marker of their Parul connection, keeping the relationship with the university active long after graduation.
A Scalable Foundation for Future Growth
With data centralized and chapters structured, the university now has an alumni infrastructure that can grow with its graduate base rather than struggle to keep up with it.
